    this is about two people who are in love

    so either they say a lot of what you imagine people in love say

    ‍ or they say nothing

SUBURBAN WANDERLUST IS THE SECOND ITERATION OF LOOKING NORTH, DEVELOPED 12 MONTHS AFTER THE ORIGINAL VERSION.

AS WE RE-VISITED THE HIDDEN SITES OF THE NORTH THAT WERE THE SOURCE OF INSPIRATION FOR THE PROJECT, WE DISCOVERED THAT IN THE BRIEF COURSE OF A YEAR, THE STRIDES OF URBANISATIONS HAD MADE TRACKS IN THESE QUIET UNASSUMING SPOTS;

THE LANDSCAPE WAS MARRED BY GAPING HOLES AND MOUNTS OF DERELICTION;

TOPPLING OUR SENSE OF FAMILIARITY, AS IN A BLINK OF AN EYE, TRACTORS AND BULLDOZERS HAD STRIPPED BARE WHAT WE ONCE KNEW TO EXIST.

WHILE MOST OF THE WORLD HIBERNATED DURING THE RAGING PANDEMIC, THE WHEELS OF PROGRESS REMAINED TURNING IN THESE GENTLE SPACES.

SUBURBAN WANDERLUST, INTERTWINES THE WEIGHT OF TIME AND EXISTENTIAL UPHEAVALS ON THE BODIES (OR SPACES) OF TWO PROTAGONISTS; WHERE SOMETHING EXTERNAL AND BEYOND THEIR CONTROL ARE SMASHING UP THEIR FRAGILE AND OVERLAPPING EXISTENCE.

IT RE-ANIMATES THE VANISHING SPACES OF THE NORTH, MAKING THEM BOUNDLESS.

THIS AUDITORY EXPERIENCE EXPLORES THE LESSER-KNOWN AREAS OF THE NORTH AND THE VEILED AREAS OF THE HUMAN SOUL; EXAMINING THE SHIFTING INTERACTIONS BETWEEN SUBURBIA AND THE LOSS OF SUBURBIA AS THE SECRET NORTH AND OTHER FRAGILE BODIES FACE THE AGENCIES OF CHANGE.

TAP ON THE DOTS TO LISTEN TO THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE AS THEY EXPERIENCE THE PRECARIOUS NATURE OF THE RELATIONSHIP TO LAND, AND TO EACH OTHER IN THE SECRET NORTH.

A certain demolition is occurring in the lives of the two protagonists and in the land. The former Sembawang animal quarantine station, ava horticulture services center, and the unknown now exist only as photographic artefacts.
